Spirent / Zarak Abacus Ring Generator (RG) shelf provides -48 Vdc and ringing voltage. When you install one or more XCG subsystems into an Abacus system, these voltages are required. When you install one or more MCG, -48 Vdc is required. When you install one or more SCG or ECG subsystems into an Abacus system, only -48 Vdc may be required.
For the XCG, the RG shelf provides talk battery, line signalling, and ring voltage to the circuit under test. For the SCG, the RG shelf provides phantom power and power source 1 and 2 when configured as an exchange (NT). For the MCG, the RG shelf provides the signalling battery required on the E and M leads of the interface. For the ECG, the RG shelf provides power for ground start.
Spirent / Zarak Abacus Ring Generator shelf on the rack mountable system is a separate chassis that you mount in the equipment rack close to the other shelves of the Abacus system. There are two different models of the RG shelf: type 1 and type 2. Type 2 is the latest model of the RG shelf, replacing type
The RG shelf on the portable system is an optional power supply within the portable chassis. The option provides -48 Vdc and ringing voltage for any XCG, ECG, SCG, or MCG subsystem installed in the chassis. To provide these voltages, you must order the option to have the factory install these voltages within the portable chassis.
